Podcasting

January 30, 2008

OK, it’s been a while, but I promise that Pastor Dave and will podcast this week. Hopefully, on something fun, stimulating, and worth hearing.
I really like this pic. Maybe we should have someone design a cool logo for our podcast.

Experiment in Webcasting, Part II

January 30, 2008

Well, we gave it a try this week. It was working alight for part of the time. Eventually it crashed and we had to start again. I think that maxed out the poor little PC in the sanctuary, tried to make it do too much: run power point, record the audio, stream the gathering to the web, control the lighting system. Whew, that is a lot for a 5 year old PC. Might be time to upgrade.

My biggest disappointments was that the recording did not happen. I wanted the stream to get saved to the server, especially for the baptism. That did not happen. We did get them recorded on video tape and I’ll see about uploading them this week.

These kinds of experiments are always a work in process. Hopefully we have learned some things and can make it better this week.

Experiement in Webcasting

January 25, 2008

I will be trying out something new this Sunday. I am going to take a stab at webcasting both of our gatherings Sunday morning. If you haven’t noticed yet, there is a widget on the front page of the blog that shows the feed. If it is blue, that means we are not webcasting at the moment. Now, I should say from the outset that this is not intended to become a reason to stay home on Sunday mornings, unless you are auto-tithing :-) They webcasts will be recorded and viewable offline as well. This will be helpful when we do baptisms and baby dedications for those who could not be there. They can either view them live or recorded. It will also work for our Easters or other special celebrations. If you have a chance to see it, let me know what you think.
